In September of 2024 our current Tenants have until Sept. 12th to sign a renewal lease.  After Sept 13th  all houses are available to any group on a first come first served basis.  To lease a house each member of the group must

  1. Submit the application that SRP emails you thru SRP's management software, Appfolio.
  2. Pay an Initial Holding deposit equal one month's rent thru a Tenant Portal that SRP opens for each member of your group. AFTER ALL APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED AND THE ENTIRE HOLDING DEPOSIT IS PAID, THE HOUSE WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET FOR 48 HOURS FOR YOUR GROUP TO SIGN THE LEASE.
  3. Sign the lease for the house or apartment in a group meeting with an agent of SRP Mgt at SRP Management’s office at 1037 E Grand River, East Lansing (across from MacDonalds).

Note, if a group of current tenants tells us before the 13th that they are leaving, then that house will available sooner to a new group.  So it pays to start looking at houses right away because once available, houses rent quickly.  Last year over 90% of our houses rented by Sept. 30th.

Once your group has decided to apply for a house, you must email  SRP Management requesting  SRP to send you an applications for a particular house.  In your email, please include include the names, cell phone numbers, and email addresses of all members of your group.  Before you apply, be sure all members of your group are prepared to immediately pay their share of the Holding Deposit and to sign the lease soon thereafter.

IMPORTANT: SRP will use our on-line management software, Appfolio, to send one of you an application.  Once the first person fills out and submits their application, Appfolio will automatically send applications to all other group members. Once applications are received from all members of your group, each member of your group will receive an invitation to open a personal private Tenant Portal on Appfolio through which the HOLDING DEPOSIT is paid.  The Holding Deposit becomes part of the Security Deposit once you pay your rent and move into your unit.  HOWEVER, YOUR HOLDING DEPOSIT WILL BE FORFEITED IF YOU FAIL TO SIGN THE LEASE within 72 hours or FAIL TO MOVE INTO THE HOUSE.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATON:

Lease Dates: All leases are for about 350 days. August leases will begin on a day between August 2 and 22, 2025 and end on a   day between July 12 & Aug 1, 2026, Our May leases start between May 20-23,2025 and end on May 4,2026.

Rent:   The total rent due will be 12 times the advertised monthly rent if paid on time.  Each semester’s rent of 4 months is payable in advance on July 15th, Nov. 15th, and March 15th, however there is a provision for alternative payment arrangements for individuals for whom this creates a hardship
